How to Translate Manga with AI (5 Steps, Free to Start)

In the next few minutes, I'll show you how to translate a raw manga page into clean, typeset English with MangaGloss, fix any line you don't like, and download the result.

Let's start. Go to mangagloss.com, and click Start translating.

This is the translator. You can try it right away, without creating an account. The bar at the top shows how many free pages you have left today.

Drag your raw pages into this box, or click to browse. PNG, JPG and WebP all work, and you can add several pages at once.

I've added one raw Japanese page. It shows up here, with its file size.

Next, pick the source language, Japanese, Korean or Chinese, and the language you want to read. I'm going from Japanese to English.

Then hit Translate.

The page goes into the queue. OCR finds every text bubble, the AI translates it with the whole page as context, and the original lettering is cleaned away.

About half a minute later, here's the result. The original is on the left, and the translated page is on the right.

Every bubble is re-lettered in English. Even the sign on the school gate is translated.

Now my favorite part. Click Edit, and every text region is listed next to the page, with the original Japanese and the English translation.

This line, haru da naa, came out as just, it's spring. It's correct, but a little flat.

So I click the region and type my own wording: Ah, spring is finally here. You can also make the text bigger or smaller right here.

Then click Re-render.

And the bubble is typeset again with my text. Your translation, your call.

Need the text only? The Text tab gives you the whole script, ready to copy into your own tools.

When you're happy, click Download to save the page. Free translations without an account carry a small watermark. Sign up to remove it.

If you translate a lot, there are paid plans. Creator is nine dollars a month for fifteen hundred pages, and Pro is twenty four dollars for six thousand.

Paid plans also add the per-series glossary, so character names stay the same in every chapter.
